Church of God (Seventh Day) PO Box 33677 Denver, CO 80233 DISASTER RELIEF REQUEST THE CHURCH IN EL SALVADOR ASKS FOR Assistance... 1-17-2001 The international news has been covering the story of the earth quake this past weekend that hit El Salvador. In a phone conversation today with the current president of the General Conference of the Church of God (Seventh Day)in El Salvador, Alfredo Castellón, GC Missions Ministries received this brief report. Brother Castellón said, "Things are very difficult here at the moment. We have a lot of damage and some deaths in our church areas. We have limited resources and will need any help that anyone can give us at this time" With some 98 churches the CoG7 GC in this small Central American Country, they are trying to survey the hardest hit areas and have reports in from all but the department of Usulutan. So far the damage to CoG7 membership and property is as follows: Churches Damaged or Destroyed: 4 Comasagua Izotes Rio Frio Santa Anna Casualties to CoG7 members-families: 20+ families homeless 8 dead 1 child hospitalized, helicoptered to San Salvador, in critical condition Because of the extent of the damages we are asking our congregations to take up offerings to assist our sister conferences there to meet the challenges ahead.
